Aussies Patrick Kisnorbo and James Wesolowski are part of a Leicester City squad discovering that pre-season training is anything but bog standard under Martin Allen.
While the Foxes’ boss is making sure there is plenty of fitness work and football going on, he has also introduced a more unusual style of preparation ahead of the new Championship season.
According to The Sun newspaper, the former Brentford and MK Dons boss has set his team to work behind the scenes at the Walkers Stadium.
And the manager is thrilled that none of his players threw out their dummies over a spot of dunny duty.
Allen said: “They have been in all the different parts of the ground, from IT, security, the shop, ticket office, maintenance — and cleaning out the toilets.
“When I told them what they had to do, it was a kind of a test. But not one of them whinged, pulled a face or gave it ‘I don’t want to do that.’
“This old thing about footballers being rich and famous and all different to you and me, I don’t agree with that. They are talented people but I think that if they are not prepared to do these jobs, I don’t really like them.”
Allen, 41, took part in a question-and-answer session with fans after the players trained in front of 2,000 supporters on Monday night.
He said: “I have done it at every club I have been at. It is good for the supporters and good for the players as well.
“I want to have a bond between them. It was a good night for the club, we are building little bridges and putting in building blocks for long-term development.”
