EXCLUSIVE: Lucas Pantelis could be excused for watching his memorable moment against Melbourne Victory over and over again - but he's ready to move on and help slay Sydney FC.
The 25-year-old Adelaide United midfielder has enjoyed plenty of media attention in the days following his cracking goal against the Hyundai A-League champions.
But Pantelis knows it is no good wallowing in the past if you want to move forward.
Not that he objects to talking au.fourfourtwo.com through it just one more time...
“I was feeling good on the night shooting-wise, and when the space opened up for me, I just concentrated on getting a good connection," he said.
"I did that and it was great to see it fly in. To be fair to Travis (Dodd), it was a great ball he put through to me.”
While arguably the best goal of round eight, Pantelis was just delighted to have contributed to an entertaining weekend of goals.
He said: “I’m not sure if it was a record weekend for goals scored but it must have been close.
"People were saying that it had been a bit dull in terms of goals and that there were a lot of draws so far.
"Hopefully we did a decent job of showing off this beautiful game of ours.”
Pantelis is just delighted to be back playing again after almost a year on the sidelines following a knee injury.
The matches cannot come quickly enough for him now and he is already looking forward to the next challenge.
“Yes, I’m happy with that goal, my second in the A-League, but we have to forget about that now and move on to the next match,” he said.
That next match comes against Sydney FC on Saturday night, a venue where Pantelis and company have yet to taste victory.
But a first win on Sydney soil would make it two A-League wins in a row for Aurelio Vidmar’s side.
He added: “We just have to continue to work hard and look to build on last week.”
