SOCCEROO Luke Wilkshire has agreed an extended stay with Dutch outfit FC Twente to remain at the club until June 2012.
It isn’t all good news for the former Bristol City man though as he is forced to sit out his club’s Eredevisie clash today.
He is suspended along with Edson Braafheid and Niels Wellenberg as FC Twente side look reach the Champions League play-off against Willem II.
A win will guarantee Twente a shot at the four-way play-off to play in Europe's premier club competition, while a point could well be enough.
However, defeat would leave Rutten's side at the mercy of other results.
Bjarni Vidarsson is also absent after picking up a severe knee injury earlier in the week which is expected to keep him on the sidelines until next season.
Rutten has urged his side not to let their promising season end in disappointment.
He said: "We want to end the competition in a good way, so that it will be honoured with a nice position in the table.
"We can play for a place in the qualifying round of the Champions League. Because Willem II is not safe at the moment, they will fight for the points.
"If you see how many goals they scored, they should be in a higher position. It will be an interesting match."
Willem put an end to their fears of automatic relegation last week with a 3-1 win over Feyenoord but Andries Jonker's men will still want to pull clear of the relegation play-off places.
A win for the Tilburg side at Twente on Sunday would guarantee their place in next season's Eredivisie.
"The victory against Feyenoord was well deserved," said Jonker.
"Now we have a good chance to stay in the Eredivisie, even without the play-offs.
"It's in our own hands, but we will follow the other matches closely.
"I think everyone agrees when I say that Willem II deserves to stay in the Eredivisie."
Willem II will be without goalkeeper Maikel Aerts, midfield duo Steef Nieuwendaal and Ibrahim Kargbo and defender Jose Valencia because of their long-term injuries.
Goalkeeper Bjorn Sengier is still suspended.
Should Willem II fail to win, De Graafschap could send them into the end-of-season relegation play-off with victory over VVV Venlo.
