Massimo Luongo has described the Socceroos' 2019 Asian Cup campaign as a disappointment and says "a moment of madness" caused their exit.
Australia was knocked out at the quarter-final stage by the UAE.
A defensive error from Milos Degenek gave the hosts a goal and they beat the Socceroos 1-0.
Luongo started in the loss to Jordan, came off the bench against Palestine, started in the win over Syria and then came off the bench against Uzbekistan.
"The competition was a disappointment," he told the QPR website."We backed ourselves to do well and with the way it lined up with our route to the final, it looked like we would have gone far.
"But one moment of madness in the game got us knocked out. That's tournament football.
"You have these plans and the next minute you are on the flight home. You can't predict those things."
