Locally based company Infocus Money Management is backing the Illawarra Stingrays by donating around $40,000 over the next two years, making it the largest sponsorship deal for a women’s football team in the Illawarra.
The funds will be used for Football NSW levies, registrations, uniforms and the day to day running of the club. However, more importantly it will allow the young players to focus on their game, rather that fundraising, in turn boosting their chances of making the finals.
“The partnership with Infocus Money Management is fantastic, it takes a lot of pressure off the club, not only the board but from the players, coaches, parents and volunteers as well. It means the Stingrays can focus on development and growing as a club in the future rather than just surviving week by week, season to season” said Club President Rob McKie.
Women’s Football continues to gain momentum in the Illawarra and this funding will help to shape the future of the sport and boost its profile in the region.
While this is an important step forward for the Stingrays, the sport as a whole will benefit from the pathways that this deal will create for women’s football in the region.
The extensive planning involved in developing a successful financial management plan for the Stingrays has definitely paid off for the team and will no doubt encourage the players to reach their full potential in the sport.
