Football NSW has announced Credit Union Australia (CUA) Stadium as the 2007 Telechoice Premier League Grand Final venue.

The selection of CUA Stadium capitalises on the successful growth of football in Western Sydney, following a significant increase of registered playing figures over recent years.

Nepean districts and the surrounding associations comprise almost 20,000 of NSW’s football participants.

Football NSW CEO Mr. Michael Quarmby believes CUA is a fantastic choice of venue.

“The Western suburbs have a lot to offer our sport. The area has shown a substantial increase in participation over the years and I believe taking the Telechoice Premier League Grand Final to CUA will only help to encourage this growth. CUA itself is an impressive venue and houses superb facilities.”

Home to NSW Premier League side Penrith-Nepean United, and NRL team the Penrith Panthers, this multi-purpose arena has a maximum capacity of 21,000, featuring two grand stands, two terraces and two hills for spectators. The ground also boasts one of Australia’s finest irrigation systems.

Penrith Nepean United General Manager and Nepean Districts Association Member Bruce Smith sees this as a great opportunity for the people of Western Sydney to express their passion for our code of football.

“I think it’s a very positive move and is great for the sport loving public in the area. People out here have embraced the idea of seeing an alterative to rugby league and it’s by far the best facility for football in NSW.”
Councilor Pat Sheehy, Mayor of Penrith was very pleased with the announcement.

“Penrith City Council welcomes Football NSW's hosting of its prestigious Telechoice Premier League Grand Final at Penrith Stadium.

To have showcase events such as the Premier League as one of the first to use the new stadium is a boon for the football-loving public of Penrith City, the region and beyond.

The Premier League is one of the most entertaining and competitive sporting competitions in Australia and Penrith City Council is proud to be the first in Western Sydney to host the Grand Final”.

The 2007 Telechoice Premier League Grand Final will be held on Sunday the 5th of August 2007, at CUA stadium, kick off at 3pm.
