ADAM Santarossa, the FourFourTwo reader selected to live inside a giant adidas Jabulani ball during the World Cup, has signed autographs and handled disgruntled Socceroos fans during his first week inside.
Seven days into Australia's most unique World Cup experience, Adam has settled into life inside the Jabulani, got used to his new found fame, but also needed some repair work done on his Melbourne dwellings.
"I've got myself into a bit of a pattern now and I'm really enjoying it" said Adam. "I get a couple of hours sleep at 2.30am after the midnight game finishes and before the 4.30am game starts. I'll go to bed after the 4.30am game, but I've got a few breakfast radio interviews so it's a case of sleeping with the phone next to my ear, then going back to sleep afterwards."
While fans have been flocking to the ball to wish Adam well, he did have a run-in with a disappointed Socceroos fan after the 4-0 defeat to Germany - or at least he would have done had he been awake!
"I had some angry Socceroos fans visit me after we lost to Germany which made it an interesting night. I've had people tapping the ball, but this was a case of hip and shouldering the ball! I was asleep at the time, but apparently this guy was drunk and tried to barge into the ball. He managed to expose one of the panels so we had a bit of damage done that night, but otherwise the fans have been great.
"Most fans just want a bit of acknowledgment, so I'll give them a wave or come out and have a chat. I have the door open for a couple of hours a day to meet people and some ask for a photo or even an autograph," said Adam.
You can follow Adam's progress in the ball through his Facebook page which includes daily blogs, pictures and videos, or follow him on Twitter.
