Internazionale coach Roberto Mancini has brushed aside criticism from club president Massimo Moratti following Sunday's defeat to city rivals AC Milan.
A 2-1 loss at the San Siro meant Inter were forced to wait on their third successive Scudetto, prompting Moratti to suggest that Mancini had not been "brave enough" with his tactics.
Inter can wrap up the Serie A crown with a win in either of their remaining games against Siena and Parma, but Moratti felt more should have been done to put the title race to bed against their arch-rivals.
"I do not think it was done on purpose but against AC we lost in the first half because we were not brave enough," Moratti said on Monday.
"Sometimes fortune favours those who show most courage."
Speaking at a press conference ahead of Wednesday's Coppa Italia semi-final second leg at Lazio, Mancini refuted Moratti's claims, insisting he had not told his players to exercise caution against Milan.
"Everyone can see it how they want," Mancini said.
"I think when you lose people always look for a scapegoat, and more often than not it is the coach.
"If that is how Moratti sees it then he is free to do so but I do not agree.
"There is no such thing as not brave enough and we have never played for a draw, not in a derby nor any other game."
