PORTUGAL midfielder Maniche has been released by Cologne after a miserable season in the Bundesliga.
The former Chelsea player joined the top flight newcomers last summer and though he made 30 appearances, attracted criticism for regular poor performances.
A statement from the club confirmed Maniche would be released on June 30.
Head of sport Michael Meier said: "We have granted Maniche's wish to go back to his family in his home country of Portugal.
"We wanted to give him the release. We thank Maniche for his work at FC Cologne and wish him and his family all the best for the future."
