Owens is the third acquisition for Central Coast manager Lawrie McKinna, who secured the services of former Sydney FC striker Sasho Petrovski last month, and has awarded Mile Jedinak a full contract for the upcoming season.

Mariners Executive Chairman Lyall Gorman said the club were thrilled to have signed the former Young Socceroo.

"We’re obviously delighted to have landed a player of Greg Owens’ ability," he said.

"In 2006/07, his performances were as good as any other attacking player in the Hyundai A-League, and I’m excited at the prospect of seeing him replicate his recent form in a yellow and navy shirt in 2007/08.

"As we’ve stated previously, we’re leaving no stone unturned in giving ourselves the best possible chance for success in season three and Owens’ signing is another significant step in this process.

"At this stage, several months out from the season, we’re very contented with how well we are placed in terms of recruitment. While realising that there is still room for improvement, we are delighted to have already attracted the likes of Petrovski, Jedinak and Owens, players of the highest calibre, in addition to finally having a fully fit Nik Mrdja back on deck for next season."

Owens began his career with the Newcastle Breakers in the National Soccer League (NSL), represented his country at U/20 and U/23 level between 2001/2 and had a brief stint with Malaysian side Johor FC before returning to join Adelaide United for the 2005/06 Hyundai A-League finals series.
