The Matildas have launched their own merchandise range to capitalise on a wave of interest following their World Cup successes.
Captain Cheryl Salisbury says the merchandise, available online and approved by the FFA, allows all types of fans to show their support for their national women's team.
“Fans have never had a chance to show their support for their national women's team. Now whether your male, female or kids, there is a great range to choose from.”
The range includes T-shirts, polos, hoodies (cut for women too), caps and spray jackets.
After the highs of a World Cup, it's back to being ordinary citizens for the Matildas who are studying at universities, working in schools or in Salisbury's case, serving customers at The Penalty Shop.
It's been a rollercoaster of emotions since the World Cup for players like Salisbury. “We're just normal people... not like the guys who return to their professional clubs.
"It was great being away but when we come back, it's back to uni or our jobs.
"You feel a bit lost and alone, not having a room-mate or the having breakfast with the team. But at the same time it's nice to have a bit of space and seeing the blue sky and fresh air.”
To purchase Matildas merchandise, go to www.thepenaltyspot.com.au or email shop@thepenaltyspot.com.au. And for those fans in Newcastle, you can buy direct from the Penalty Shop at 262 Turton Rd, New Lambton, where Cheryl Salisbury may even serve you.
