They made it as hard as possible but the Westfield Matildas have battled through to another Women's Asian Cup Final after a Mackenzie Arnold rollercoaster sent Australia through winning 3-1 on penalties after it finished 2-2 after extra time.

Mackenzie Arnold - 8
Arnold was caught off her line and was at fault for the Matildas quick concession of the equaliser and a rally of errors had Australian hearts in throats. All was forgiven as Mackenzie Arnold went from zero to hero as she magnificently saved three penalties to send Australia into the Asian Cup Final.
Ellie Carpenter - 5.5
A block on the line that stopped a certain goal as peppering shots from the Thai attack were quashed. Poor defending some of Thailand’s direct play which opened a lot of space for Kanjana. Her efforts in extra time were immense however.
Alanna Kennedy - 6
Caught out by the long ball and couldn’t keep up with Kanjana who played off her shoulder cleverly and chipped Arnold. Poor touch allowed Rattikan to slam home Thailand’s second goal. Saved the day in stoppage time with a powerful header form the corner.
Laura Alleway - 4.5
Confident passing out from the back and good link up with Emily Gielnik at full-back however her connection with Kennedy looked topsy-turvy as a lot of space opened up as Thailand played direct. Substituted at half-time for Steph Catley as Alen Stajcic attempted to calm things down at the back.
Emily Gielnik - 6
Not a traditional right-back but her cross from the corner that skimmed off a Thai head broke the deadlock for the Matildas. Rather competent defensively in patches.
Elise Kellond-Knight - 6
She never looked comfortable on the ball and as the Matildas were dispossessed there was much space to exploit that she sometimes didn’t fill. However, swung in a spectacular corner to Kennedy to equalise in stoppage time in the second half.
Katrina Gorry - 5.5
Not taking advantage of the Matildas possession but also struggling to make her passes stick. Should have pulled the trigger more in her dangerous positions. Once some firepower came off the bench Gorry came into her own.
