The former York City striker arrived yesterday and took part in his first training session today, ahead of the squad's departure for Singapore.

Swapping northern England for north Queensland is a shock to the system and a trip to Singapore is also likely to be a warm experience.

"I only arrived yesterday, so straight in at the deep end but it's to be expected. Now that I'm here I just want to get straight involved," he said.

The striker is expected to play some part against Tampines Rovers at Jalan Besar Stadium on Sunday.

McBreen said:  "40 to 45 minutes in the heat over there could be a bit of a killer for me but I've got tlo get used to that. You don't want to be sitting on the sidelines, you want to get involved straight away.

"The gaffer says he's going to ease me into it. Once we get back from Singapore he might provide some sessions to get used to the heat and stuff."

The forward is just thrilled to be back Down Under and revealed that several of his former UK teammates were green with envy.

He said: "It's been seven years i've been away now. I kept saying to the guys over there  I can't wait to get back to the warm weather.

"The A-League's got a really good reputation over there now so it's really good and positive that I've come back and I'm really looking forward to it."

And there's no question the chance to link up with the man known as God was also a big factor.

"Robbie Fowler, it's a dream isn't it?" said McBreen. "It's the first thing everybody said to me over there. I had players saying 'take me with you. I'll pay to play with Robbie'. "

McBreen has been brought in to use his physical presence and he's happy to play to his strengths. What is certain is that he hasn't signed on for a bit-part role.

He added: "I'm not going to be running, taking four guys on and bend one in top corner. That's not my game. I'll just go out there and do my job.

"You want to be in the starting XI every week, week in week out, that's my aim and I'm hoping to prove that's where I should be."

Coach Ferguson said of McBreen: "I was missing that physical aspect up front. Santalab's quite small and so is Fowler, so I was looking for that bigger physical player and he fits the bill."
