McGlinchey is set to play a role for New Zealand in South Africa 2010 and with the Mariners out of contention for the finals and just two matches remaining, the club has agreed to let the 22-year-old take up a three-month deal.

"Michael has a great chance to represent his country at the World Cup and this gives him a chance to be playing regular football until May," Mariners executive chairman Lyall Gorman said.

"We wish Michael all the best for the time he spends in Scotland, before welcoming him back to the Mariners after the World Cup."

McGlinchey is on a two-year deal with Central Coast, and has played 21 matches this season.

He joins Dean Heffernan in heading overseas before the season finishes. Heffernan, who took up a loan deal with Huddersfield, is trying to push his way into the Australian squad for the World Cup.
