It's believed a two year, $1.5m deal with Al Nassr is about to be announced for McKain.

The deal was brokered by Australian-based player-manager Tony Rallis using a Saudi network that also set up Adam Griffiths's deal last season from Gold Coast United to Al Shabab.

The 27-year-old Phoenix player who's been capped 12 times for the Socceroos was one of the stars for the Kiwi side in recent seasons alongside Andrew Durante in the centre of Ricki Herbert's defence.

This move could relaunch the player's Socceroo career post World Cup 2010.

Zenga has spent a number of years coaching in Romania and it was there it's thought he first scouted the talented defender-cum-midfielder.

It's also understood that Al Nassr were interested in signing Sydney FC's recent acquisition Nick Carle but the playmaker had already given his word to the sky blues.

Socceroo Mark Bresciano was recently linked to Al Nassr after Zenga joined the club. The Italian, who played 58 times for his country, was Bresciano's former boss at Palermo.

The McKain deal might not be the last to Saudi with another high profile Socceroo potentially on the move to the west Asian league.
