Roar could have taken a 2-0 lead when Massimo Maccarone netted early in the second half but the assistant referee flagged for offside.

As a result, the goal couldn't be reviewed by the VAR as the referee had blown his whistle initially, affecting potential play leading up to the strike.

McKay went out of his way to bring up the topic post-game when speaking to FoxSports.

"It hasn't worked out for us again," McKay told FoxSports.

"It still needs changing, they tweaked it again this week.

"You need an advantage for the forward, he's through on goal, it wasn't offside but there's nothing there.

"He can take a touch and finish and they can't come back to that. If they don't give offside first, they'll see it as a goal.

"It's bizarre, but we move on."

McKay added he felt the VAR was here to stay and it needed further adjustment.

"I think this day and age, they're going to go for it," he said.

"We need to adapt and they need to get the system right.

"I watch a lot of other sports and they have the same issues.

"It has to improve and I'm sure it will eventually, for us."

He added that Roar didn't help themselves and didn't blame the VAR for the result after late goals from Andy Keogh and Diego Castro for Glory.

"It's frustating not because of the decisions. We could control that game," he said.

"They didn't give us any pressure and we didn't turn up in the second half.

"Some silly goals to concede. We know we've got plenty of work to do. We'll do that."
