EXCLUSIVE: Matt McKay is hoping for a healthy dose of deja vu this weekend as Queensland Roar aim to kick-start their A-League season with a win over Perth Glory.
Roar travel to Members Equity Stadium in round four, just as they did at this stage last season.
Frank Farina's men went into last year's clash having chalked up two draws and a defeat from their first three matches - a pattern repeated in their opening three fixtures this season.
It was last season's round four clash in Perth that finally brought the first three points with McKay netting the all-important winner with five minutes remaining.
He told au.fourfourtwo.com: "We seem to do okay in Perth and it was a great feeling to get that first win under our belts last season.
"It's a long trip but the boys have been working hard and we're looking forward to it.
"It's not been the ideal start but then we had exactly the same start last year and went on to have a good year.
"The (FIFA window) break is both good and bad. I guess those who put in good performances in the last match would have wanted to keep going but then for others and maybe those carrying knocks, it's a chance to refresh.
"Both teams have seen a few changes since the end of last year and Perth have brought in some new faces.
"They've just signed Wayne Srhoj. He's a Queenslander so he'll be wanting to do well against us.
"He's a year older than me but he was part of the set up at the QAS as well."
While happy to be playing at Members Equity Stadium this weekend, McKay refutes any suggestion it is a relief to get away from Suncorp (after the so called-curse reared its head again in Roar's first two home games).
He said: "I've been here from the start and heard that brought up so many times. Of course you want to win your home games. Suncorp is a great stadium and opposing teams love coming here to play."
Roar are sweating on the fitness of skipper Craig Moore ahead of the trip west. He is recovering from a hip problem sustained in training but should make the plane.
