Looking to put last week's controversial derby defeat behind them, the Victory endured a horror start as they found themselves two goals down inside 23 minutes.

First it was Joel Chianese on hand to put the visitors ahead from close range after just eight minutes, before poor defensive awareness again allowed Andy Keogh to nip in and double the lead.

Trailing 2-0 at halftime, Kevin Muscat must have had some choice words for his chargers and it paid instant dividends as Terry Antonis halved the deficit after just 104 seconds of the second period.

After being found in space by marquee man Keisuke Honda, Antonis turned and arrowed his strike into the bottom corner from 20 yards.

The Victory looked a completely different outfit in the second half and after Reddy had denied both Honda and Barbarouses, it was the Japanese maestro again who provided the equaliser.

Storm Roux rose unchallenged at the near post to guide home Honda's corner and level the scores with just 3 minutes remaining in regulation time and send the vocal home crowd into raptures.

Only one side looked likely to emerge as the victor as Victory continued to surged forward, but there was one final twist in the tale as Perth countered in the 3rd minute of injury time and claimed all three points.

Joel Chianese found space in behind on the break, and although his shot was saved by the legs of Lawrence Thomas, there was nothing the Melbourne keeper could do as Chris Ikonomidis swept home the rebound to score his first goal for his new club as Glory claimed their first victory at AAMI Park since March 2013.

Melbourne Victory

Lawrence Thomas – 6.5

Thomas could do nothing about the opening two goals and his sloppy first touch earned him a yellow card as Victory were rattled inside the opening half an hour. Had little to do in the second period and was unlucky to see Ikonomidis slot home the winner after saving Chianese's shot with his legs.

Storm Roux – 7

His link up play with Honda on the right side was impressive and he capitalised on some poor defending to equalise for the hosts.

Nick Ansell – 5

Inexplicably left the ball to allow Keogh to double the lead and never looked comfortable dealing with Perth's counter attacking style.

Georg Niedermeier – 5

Equally at fault for Perth's second goal as he still appears to be struggling with the pace and intensity of the A-League. Left the field with 15 minutes remaining after an ugly collision with Reddy.

Corey Brown – 6

Was strong going forward once again but was caught out of position as Perth countered to steal all three points.

Raul Baena – 6

A difficult evening for the Spaniard as he struggled to impose himself against Perth's defensive mindset. Helped steer the side back in the right direction but still looks to be finding his feet in his new surroundings.

Terry Antonis – 7

His touch inadvertently provided the opener for Glory and he had a poor first half, as did the majority of his teammates. Produced an excellent strike to make it 2-1 but struggled to break down Perth's stubborn defence.

James Troisi – 6.5

Not at his brilliant best and wasted the half chances that came his way. Perth clearly targeted Troisi and did a great job keeping him out of his usual rhythm.

Keisuke Honda – 8

Burst into life in the second half as he dominated proceedings and helped Victory surge back into the match. Expertly found Antonis in space to help create the opener, before providing the corner for Roux's equaliser. His pinpoint delivery caused havoc all night for Perth's defenders and he could have had a few more assists on another night.

Kosta Barbarouses – 6.5

Kosta was heavily involved in most of Melbourne's good work and had several good chances to get his name on the scoresheet. Was not at his attacking best and on another night could have a hat-trick.

Kenny Athiu – 6

Struggled to influence the match in the opening half as Victory struggled to get a foothold in the game. Barely lasted 10 minutes in the second stanza before succumbing to a hamstring strain.

Jai Ingham – 6.5

Came on for the injured Athiu but was rarely sighted despite Victory's second half domination.

Thomas Deng – 6

Brought on to replace his floored German teammate. Rarely tested as Victory dominated the second period and was caught out by Perth's late counter attack.

Carl Valeri – 6

Replaced Baena with 10 minutes remaining and helped keep his side on top as they pushed for an equaliser, but couldn't keep the Glory from stealing all three points.

PERTH GLORY

Liam Reddy – 7.5

Picked up a yellow card for time wasting just before halftime as Glory endeavoured to play the game at their own pace. Produced two excellent saves to deny Honda and then Barbarouses and was smartly off his line when required to help Perth secure a gutsy win. Could do nothing about either of Victory's goals.

Ivan Franjic – 7.5

Excellent cross field ball to create the opening goal and was an excellent outlet all evening for the Glory. Worked tirelessly before being withdrawn with 10 minutes remaining.

Tomislav Mrcela – 7.5

Bailed out Perth with some strong defending with Barbarouses bearing down on goal in the first half. It was also his strong header which turned into an assist for Perth's second. Frustrated the hosts for the majority of the evening and played a crucial role in the win.

Alex Grant – 7.5

A strong performance which would have made his coach proud. Helped repel wave after wave of Victory attacks as the home side dominated the second period.

Shane Lowry – 8

Another great performer for the visitors and took the armband after Keogh went off. Fought tooth and nail for his side as his side rode their luck to claim the victory.

Jason Davidson – 7.5

His overlapping run created the opening goal after his cross was diverted into the path of Chianese by Antonis. After a few years in the wilderness it's good to see him back playing regularly.

Juande – 7.5

Won the battle against his Spanish compatriot and was always an available outlet for his teammates. His hard work laid the vital groundwork for Glory's 'smash and grab' win.

Neil Kilkenny – 6

Was everywhere in the opening half but was overrun in the second period as Victory took control of the game. Allowed Roux to rise unchallenged for Victory's equaliser before being substituted.

Joel Chianese – 7.5

In the right place at the right time to open the scoring inside the opening 10 minutes. Did his defensive work without question all evening and then still had the gas in the engine late on to help steal the points.

Chris Ikonomidis – 7

Promoted to the starting lineup after an impressive cameo last weekend and worked his socks off for 90 minutes without really showing too many glimpses of what he can do. Found Chianese in space to launch the counter attack in injury time and was followed up to grab the winning goal on his starting debut for the club.

Andy Keogh – 7

Led the side around the park brilliantly and showed his clinical qualities by doubling Perth's advantage. That was his 6th goal in 12 outings at AAMI Park. Withdrawn in the 77th minute.

SUBS:

Fabio Ferreira – 6

Given just over 10 minutes and wasn't largely involved.

Scott Neville – 6.5

Brought on to replace the tiring Franjic with just under 10 minutes remaining. Managed to get forward and created a great chance for Davidson to score in injury time.

Brandon Wilson – N/A

His first major involvement was celebrating the winning goal.
