Australian former Chelsea junior George Mells has gone on trial with Dutch second tier club Fortuna Sittard.
Australia youth international Mells, 20, spent the past two seasons in the A-League with Adelaide United, but left the Reds in May.
In his farewell message on Instagram, Mells said: "I've decided to pursue another opportunity abroad and I'll let everyone know when it's official."
The central midfielder, who also spent time in England with Southampton along with Chelsea, began his trial with Fortuna as they commenced training on Saturday.
He is expected to be part of the club's opening pre-season friendly against VV Sittard this Saturday.
Fortuna finished 17th in the Dutch Eerste Divisie in 2016-17, having battled financial issues.
The club was deducted nine points overall in 2016-17, after failing to pay an outstanding bill to the Dutch Football Association (KNVB) and not meeting financial targets.
Fortuna, who are currently managed by ex-Nigeria international Sunday Oliseh, were a regular in the Eredivisie in 1990s but haven't played in the top flight since 2002.
Saudi Arabia boss Bert van Marwijk has a strong association with the club, having played there and then managed them in the late 1990s.
