Meredith put in a full shift as Steve Morison's 85th minute winner left the Bantams devastated in a tight contest.

The two-time Socceroo had an early chance from an angle which was beaten away by Millwall keeper Jordan Archer, along with a second-half chance.

Bradford boss Stuart McCall said: "We wanted to be leaving here (Wembley) as winners but I can only thank the players for all of their efforts this season.

"It was almost an unbelievable journey but it wasn't just our day today.

"The second half we were a little bit quiet but we've still had headers from Rory (McArdle) and Mezza (James Meredith), plus the chance at the end from Tony (McMahon).”

Meredith made 45 appearances in all competitions for Bradford this season.

The 29-year-old's hopes of playing second tier football may not be over yet, as FourFourTwo reported earlier this year that Leeds United and Norwich City are interested in him.
