Ljubo Milicevic will be unveiled as Perth Glory player in the next 24 hours as the former Socceroo returns to where it all began for him some 13 years ago.
The defender has made a return to form in the VPL with Melbourne Knights this season after shaking off a knee injury that had bedevilled his career at Hajduk Split.
It's this form which attracted interest from a number of clubs but the lure of moving back to the club where it all started for the elegant defender was too hard to pass up.
Speaking from Perth, the former Newcastle Jets star said he was delighted to be back with Glory.
“It wasn’t handshakes, it was hugs when I walked into the club. Seeing guys like Ali Edwards, Gareth Naven and Ante Kovacevic was great," Milicevic told au.fourfourtwo.com.
“And to be at a club that launched my career here before I went to Europe is very special for me. I’m very happy and cannot wait to get started with the team.”
Milicevic, 32, joined Glory from the AIS at the beginning of his career and scored a headed goal in a losing 2000 NSL grand final against Wolves.
He rejoins the club and is set to partner Socceroo Michael Thwaite in the centre of the Glory defence.
