The result in Bergamo saw the Nerazzurri extended their lead at the top of Serie A to five points with second-place AC Milan and Juventus, who are third, losing this weekend.

"I think it was a missed chance for AC Milan and Juve rather than for us," said Milito, who scored his 10th goal of the campaign today.

"We now hold a five-point lead over Milan and we are six points clear of Juventus.

"We just have to continue to work hard and remain on this path."

Milito had hoped his 14th minute goal would have given Interi all three points.

However, Wesley Sneijder's sending off shortly after the hour mark hurt Jose Mourinho's side, who conceded a late equaliser.

"It is a pity because we dominated the game for an hour" said Milito. "But we were unable to score the second goal which would have allowed us to kill the game off.

"Sneijder's sending off proved crucial.

"It affected our balance and our rivals took advantage and equalised."

Inter host Lazio next weekend while AC Milan travel to Florence to face Fiorentina.
