The Scotsman has been playing through the pain recently and aggravated a hernia problem in last week's 1-1 draw with Sydney FC.

Roar staff had been hoping to nurse him through the rest of the campaign but all the signs are that Miller may have to admit defeat in his battle to avoid surgery.

That would be a huge blow to Frank Farina with the former Rangers man having enjoyed a tremendous impact since joining the club at the start of the season.

Roar physio Tony Ganter told the Courier Mail: "He's gone from feeling the best he's felt for a while before the Sydney game to feeling the worst he's felt after it.

"He may get an injection in the hernia area, but that's probably only delaying the inevitable surgery. It may be a case of biting the bullet and getting the surgery done and have him back in time for the finals."

Miller has been a big hit at Suncorp netting some tremendous goals for the club, including a goal of the season contender in Roar's last home game against Perth Glory.
