It’s no secret that France are expected to down the Aussies comfortably as many of the questions Les Bleus have been forced to answer have been about transfers rather than the upcoming game.

Griezmann admitted he only knew “two or three” opposition players and believed the Socceroos would be physical because they are not tactical.

Milligan said he was unfazed by the Atletico Madrid star's ignorance towards Australia.

“I don’t see it as an insult, but in the last five games, the opposition has towered over us,” Milligan said.

“We have to be physical when we need to be, but tactically, we’ll be very well equipped.”

Australia have had positive results in their past three games, however the players were unsatisfied with the 2-1 win over Hungary last week.

The message coming from the camp in Kazan so far is that they will aim to capitalise on chances and hit the French on the counter-attack.

Milligan said the team has now settled in Russia and the nerves were fine three days out from the opener.

“The general feeling has been a bit more relaxed, the last three weeks has sometimes been borderline torture,” he said.

“We knew we needed it in the way we wanted to do things and the way we want to defend and attack.

“We had to be at the peak of our powers physically. Now we’ve arrived, we’ll be able to settle into what’s going to be our home for the next couple of weeks and it does get a bit easier.

“It’s still a few days out, so I think the tension will grow as we get a little bit closer. At the moment, everyone has been good and focused and looking forward to it.”
