English Championship side Millwall deny Tim Cahill is set to return to the club.
The Daily Telegraph yesterday reported the Socceroos star had all but agreed to terms with the side he started his career with as the 38-year-old remains without a club.
The unnamed source said: “He will be back at Millwall. Tim has already gone to England. It’s not a done-deal just yet but expect an announcement soon.”
However, The Daily Telegraph have since reported Millwall have denied offering Cahill, who made 249 appearances for and scored 56 goals from 1998 to 2004, a lifeline.
Cahill has not played since City’s 2-1 A-League win over Newcastle on December 2.
“There’s absolutely nothing in the rumours at all,” a Millwall club official told The Daily Telegraph.
Cahill is desperate to be part of the Socceroos' 2018 World Cup squad after playing in the 2006, 2010 and 2014 editions.
