EXCLUSIVE: Miron Bleiberg is confident his strikers can out-fire Robbie Fowler next season and wouldn't swap forwards with North Queensland Fury.
The Gold Coast United boss is happy Fowler will be part of the competition and joked that it was good to see the other A-League newcomer grabbing some of the headlines for a change.
"Maybe them (Fury) bringing Robbie Fowler in takes a bit of the pressure off us and focuses more on the situation and the expectations there," Bleiberg told au.fourfourtwo.com.
Bleiberg is confident that Fowler's experience and quality gives him every chance of being a hit in the competition but that doesn't mean to say he wishes United had grabbed him.
"I look at my squad and I have Shane Smeltz, I have Joel Porter, I have Milson (Brazilian). I'm very happy with those options.
"I wouldn't swap them. I wouldn't swap them for Robbie Fowler."
Bleiberg says he has learned a lesson about the importance of an out and out goalscorer (or scorers) in a squad.
He said: "When I was at Queensland Roar, we created so many chances but couldn't put them away. You need that person to finish them off."
Bleiberg is currently in China, looking to finalise pre-season preparations for United.
