The 21-year old was denied a dream move to the Bundesliga giants last month after Victory rejected  the German side's initial offer, but Victory's football operations manager Gary Cole insisted at the time that the ball was in the German club's court to make an improved follow-up bid.

A revised offer is said to have been made - believed to be a substantial improvement - but Victory have stood firm again, leaving one of Australia's brightest young talents to continue plying his trade in the A-League rather than honing his skills in one of Europe's biggest leagues.

"I'm very disappointed," Langerak today told au.fourfourtwo.com. "I had hopes that this offer [from Dortmund] would get accepted as it is a very substantial offer - one of the biggest ever for an Australian footballer - so for it to be turned down is very disappointing for me.

"I'm sure they [Victory] have got their reasons, but from my point of view it is a bitter pill to swallow. When one of the biggest clubs in Europe come knocking you have to think twice.

"I'm also disappointed that Victory didn't even bother negotiating. Dortmund stayed interested for four weeks while the Victory did nothing, which is very disrespectful.

"There was a deadline for Victory to respond to the offer, which they missed, and then just rejected it outright. I was sitting tight all this time not knowing what was going on."

Langerak said he wasn't too sure why the second offer had been rejected, especially in the wake of Cole's comments last month which implied that an improved offer should be enough to prize Langerak away from the A-League.

"For any young player going overseas is something you dream of," said Langerak. "To get such an offer so early in my career is an honour and now it hasn't come off I'm disappointed.

"As a young player you don't know if you're going to get one of these opportunities ever again, especially at such a massive club [as Dortmund]. I'm sure the fans over here realise what a massive opportunity this is for me too."

Despite his disappointment, Langerak insisted that he will be able to bounce back next season and have another good term with Victory, but he holds little hope of another offer being forthcoming from the German contingent.

Langerak added: "It now seems quite clear to them [Dortmund] that I'm not for sale."

Melbourne Victory have been asked for a comment.
