With the success of the Socceroos and Hyundai A-League many fans wondered how lower leagues would benefit, if at all.

In the past getting sponsors for local leagues and cup competitions has always proved difficult.

The tide may be turning.

In Victoria, Foxtel increased their sponsorship and secured naming rights for the men’s premier league. No surprise there maybe, but is it a sign of the times?

In Canberra, as participation rates continue to grow, the Women’s Premier League has secured a three-year sponsorship deal with Canberra’s leading female fitness centre, Club Pink.

The three year deal includes naming rights and ground advertising.

Women’s football is booming in Canberra. This year alone there has been an increase of 10 new teams resulting in a creation of a new division.

Over 1000 players take part in women’s football from April to September across the nation’s capital.
Women’s League Manager Jen De Gabriele is excited to have Club Pink on board.

“This is a great alignment. It’s a fantastic opportunity for the Women’s Premier League and will hopefully become a fruitful and long lasting relationship.”

Slowly, but surely, sponsors are getting behind the game across Australia.
