Adriano announced yesterday back in Brazil that he was taking a leave of absence from football.

The 27-year-old spoke of the immense pressure he felt in Italian football and expressed the need to take a break.

Mourinho, who is in his first season with the three-time defending champions, said today: "I don't feel like talking much about this, I only say that Inter has done everything it could to help him.

"They did it before I arrived (and) when I was here.

"I as coach and as a human being have always tried to help him, as has the club president (Massimo Moratti) and his team-mates.

"The important thing now is that he is happy.

"As I have already said before, if you lose a player but gain a man, this is perfect."

It is not the first time Adriano has struggled with personal problems.

Inter allowed the South American star to join Sao Paulo on a six-month loan last season after the player acknowledged he was going through a difficult time.

Adriano returned to Inter last summer and has struck three goals in 12 league appearances for the Serie A leaders.
