Had the Victory versus Heart clash taken place this weekend as originally scheduled then it would have been touch and go for the experienced campaigner.

An ankle injury has kept him sidelined for the last three weeks but with the match now scheduled for Friday October 8, the 37-year-old's chances of playing have improved considerably.

"There is upside to it, there's no doubt about that," Victory coach Ernie Merrick told the Herald Sun.

"We'd need a fitness test on Kevin (if the game was this week) and we're not sure where Brebs (Grant Brebner) is at."

As for taking the decision to move the game, the A-League believe it is the right thing to do.

A-League boss Lyall Gorman added: "The rescheduling makes sense on a lot of levels and will give us clear space in the lead up and a clear precinct on the night so we can maximize exposure and attendance."
