The defeat means Shimizu surrender first place in the standings to Nagoya Grampus, who moved top following a 3-1 win over Urawa Reds.

Nakamura set up the opener for Marinos as the former Celtic midfielder drove a cross from the right for Shingo Hyodo to head home after two minutes.

Japan international Shinji Okazaki equalised after 30 minutes when he nodded home Jungo Fujimoto's cross but Nakamura grabbed the winner when he sent a 30-yard free-kick into the back of the net eight minutes into the second half.

Shimizu's disappointment was compounded as defender Keisuke Iwashita was shown a red card in the 64th minute.

Nagoya made the most of Shimizu's defeat with a comfortable victory over Urawa Reds at Toyota Stadium to move top of the standings.

Marcus Tulio Tananka opened the scoring against his former club after 54 minutes but Tomoya Ugajin equalised 11 minutes later.

However a late double from Keiji Tamada sealed the win for Nagoya, who move two points clear of Shimizu.

Elsewhere, third-place Kashima Antlers were held to a 1-1 draw by FC Tokyo while Gamba Osaka claimed their fourth win in a row with a 3-1 defeat of Vegalta.

Finally, the game between Vissel Kobe and Shonan Bellmare ended goalless.
