The Young Socceroo, who made his competition debut in round one off the bench against the Newcastle Jets, has appeared in three A-League matches so far.

After scoring five goals in pre-season, Naumoff is enjoying moving up from the youth side and being part of the Sky Blues’ first-team.

“I feel very privileged to be involved in the first-team pretty much day-in-day-out,” he said.

“I feel like it’s improved my game massively over the last few months coming through pre-season into the beginning of the season. My game is much quicker.

“I’m just grateful with any chance that I’m given and I just look to work off that and put all my effort in for the team.”

The 18 year-old admitted there were some nerves after coming on in the final minutes of the 2-0 win over the Jets.

“Being my first A-League game it was both very exciting and a bit of a nerve wracking experience, but as soon as I stepped onto the pitch for the little time I got it felt great,” Naumoff added.

“It was an amazing experience to finally make my debut which I’ve been working hard towards for so many years.

“It (the Glory game) was a good opportunity to try and express myself a bit more and obviously being 1-0 down trying to get a result out of the game. Again. I was happy with my performance and grateful of the chance that the gaffer gave me.

“The (Victory) game was full on as most people could see. That one was a bit of a big game. I played nearly 10 minutes – that felt like an eternity trying to hold out for that win. Again a much higher-tempo game, creating a few chances and it was a great game to be involved in.”

An attacking midfielder or striker who has two caps for the Young Socceroos, Naumoff said the belief in the Sydney FC camp remains strong despite an inconsistent start to the season.

“No-one’s ever doubted themselves within the club,” he said.

“I think there’s been good spirits. There’s been a few ups and downs but there’s been no serious worries or anything. Everyone’s working hard to be better in the next game. It’s still early days in the season and I think we’re in a great position to excel towards the top of the ladder.”

A Sutherland Sharks product, Naumoff was named as the NSW Premier League 20’s Player of the Year in 2012. The Menai Hawks junior says he is learning a lot from teammate Alessandro Del Piero and is keen to keep improving his game.

“To be fair, I think it still hasn’t hit me,” Naumoff said.

“Playing with a such a fantastic and big player like he is, working with him in training and learning off him in games, its excelled my game unbelievably.

“He’s always giving tips on how to improve your game and I’m just very grateful to be working with such an amazing player.”
