SOCCEROOS Craig Moore and Tommy Oar helped unveil the new national home kit for South Africa in Sydney this morning, with the promise that a lighter design will mean quicker Socceroos.

Like the recently launched away kit, each jersey is made from eight recycled plastic bottles reclaimed from Japanese and Taiwanese landfill sites. Shirt maker Nike predict the environmental initiative would prevent some 13 million plastic bottles from going into landfill sites.
It also creates a jersey some 15 per cent lighter than previous Nike kits - a move that will hopefully make our aging Socceroos a bit quicker in South Africa.
The shirt is a bold departure from the plainer 'gold' shirt of 2006, with a green panel on the shoulders said to be inspired by the Australian wattle.
"The main difference with this kit is that it is a lot lighter, it is also a lot cooler with holes down the side, plus a comfortable fit," said Moore. "I've also been promised by Nike that it's going to make me a faster player!"
Oar added: "It looks great. The colours look a bit different to the old jersey, but they compliment each other well.
"It is also very light and comfortable."
