Burton Albion have confirmed there’s been no official offers or enquiries for in-form Socceroos midfielder Jackson Irvine despite speculation of a January swoop.
Irvine, 23, was this week linked with Championship trio Birmingham City, Wolverhampton and Huddersfield Town after a breakout first six months at Burton.
The Australian joined Burton from Scottish Premier League club Ross County in July and has netted eight goals in 26 appearances since the switch.
His form led to speculation of a January swoop, although Irvine told FourFourTwo it was news to him, along with Burton boss Nigel Clough.
"We’ve had no enquiries for Jackson Irvine so far, he's had a brilliant start to his first Championship season,” Clough said.
“We feel most clubs will keep an eye on him for his eight goals until the end of the season."
Clough added Irvine, who signed a three-year deal with the Brewers, had been a key player for the club expected to battle relegation this term.
"He's a crucial player and has had a great impact,” Clough said.
“Sometimes we rely too much on him, we can't believe how he gets off the ground. He's a very important player for us."
Clough also revealed Irvine is battling a niggling injury which may keep him out of Saturday’s FA Cup clash with Watford.
Irvine suffered a head injury early in the midweek loss to Preston North End causing a lengthy delay but played out the game with a bandage on his forehead.
