ADELAIDE United's squad report for pre-season training in five days time but coach Aurelio Vidmar won't panic buy to fill the holes in his squad.
The Reds have lost several key players since the end of last season with experienced campaigners such as Paul Agostino, Michael Valkanis, Ang Costanzo, Sasa Ognenovski and Diego all having retired or moved on to new clubs.
Vidmar and his coaching team have a list of targets drawn up but don't expect them all to be lining up for the first training session.
The coach told the Adelaide Advertiser: "It could take one week or a month. We don't want to rush into it.
"We have to make sure that the ones we do get are able to fill a role for us."
And much as Vidmar would love to unveil a marquee free-scoring striker next week, there is the small matter of finance.
He said: "The top-choice ones cost you millions and we don't have that."
