EXCLUSIVE: Robert Younis always dreamed of signing for The Reds but Aurelio Vidmar's new striker has revealed that Anfield not Adelaide could have been home.
Younis this week agreed a two-year deal with United after an impressive season for APIA Leichhardt Tigers in the NSW Premier League.
Sydney FC were also in the market for Younis but the youngster is more than happy to have plumped for Adelaide.
The former real estate expert will finish the season with the Tigers before joining up with Vidmar's men.
With a property background, finding a house shouldn't be too much of a problem in Adelaide. The biggest challenge will be forcing his way into the team.
Younis is determined to make it happen though, much as he admires the players he now calls teammates.
He told au.fourfourtwo.com: "It is a dream and I'm determined to repay the faith that Adelaide United and Aurelio Vidmar have shown in me.
"Sydney FC did come in and with John Aloisi being injured there was the chance of a short term deal. But Adelaide had already offered me something, I really enjoyed my week there and I've no regrets at all. I'm sure I've made the right decision."
Younis is hungry to learn and build on his footballing experience which includes a stint at Liverpool five years ago.
He said: "Like Harry Kewell and Brett Emerton when they went over to train with Leeds United, I won a scholarship and went to England on the Big Brother program.
"Harry was there, along with the likes of Steven Gerrard and Michael Owen. I trained there for six weeks and really enjoyed it, apart from getting a virus, but it wasn't to be for me there.
"I came home, worked hard and now I can't wait to be part of things at Adelaide.
"I know I can learn a lot from being part of the set up and working with people like Paul Agostino.
"But I haven't joined Adelaide just to fill up the numbers. I'm going there with the attitude that I want to play and there's a determination to score goals."
Younis, who shares his name with a tv and film actor, has been taking some good-natured abuse from colleagues in the Leichhardt dressing room.
He has been christened 'Hollywood' by his teammates, due to the amount of media attention he has received in recent weeks.
"They're a good bunch of lads at APIA and there are others who probably deserve a crack at the A-League as well."
