EXCLUSIVE: Shane Smeltz looks set to stay on the Gold Coast with no other clubs showing any interest in the World Cup striker after his aborted transfer to China last month.
Smeltz, 28, walked out on his move to Chinese Super League side Shandong Luneng just a few days after arriving in China, and immediately returned to the Gold Coast to rejoin United.
Because Smeltz made up his mind to abandon the China move so quickly, his old club still hadn't completed his transfer paperwork, allowing him to return to the A-League immediately.
It also meant his current contract was still valid on his return to Robina - which still includes the controversial $300,000 release fee.
The clause allows any club to snap up Smeltz if they offer Gold Coast just $300,000.
But so far there are still no takers for the Kiwi hitman and double winner of the A-League's Golden Boot.
The club today confirmed they have had no approaches by any club for Smeltz since his return.
