Off-contract Brisbane Roar stalwart Matt McKay says he's determined to play on again next season following his side's 2-0 finals elimination to Melbourne City on Friday night.
City triumphed 2-0 over Brisbane at AAMI Park on Friday night after second-half goals from Stefan Mauk and Nick Fitzgerald.
The result ends Roar's up-and-down season after scraping into the top six with a final round win at Perth Glory.
It also leaves the futures of out-of-contract veterans Massimo Maccarone, Fahid Ben Khalfallah and McKay uncertain, although the latter made his intentions clear.
"I want to be playing next year," McKay told Fox Sports. "It's simple as that.
"I've enjoyed my time here. I want to come back and help the club get to the top again."
McKay said Brisbane "weren't at the races" when speaking about his side's performance in the elimination final defeat.
"Not great. We weren't at the races tonight," he said.
"It's disappointing for us. I'm really proud of the boys as we dug in during the middle of the season when everyone was writing us off.
"We made the top six. Full credit to getting here but we didn't play well tonight."
