The Socceroo could yet feature in tonight's friendly against Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers in Perth.

"There is a (loan) contract on the table and we are very positive about David," said Hassall. "He's a Socceroo and we think he can be an exciting attacking player for this club.

"We know he was also talking with a South African club but hopefully he sees something here that he wants to be part of."

However, it appears to one in and one out at the club with Hassall confirming that former Sydney FC man Santalab could be set for the exit and is believed to be heading doe Chengdu Blades.

"Brendon received an offer through his agent from a club in China, spoke to the coach about it and asked if he could go. We thought about it and he's gone over there for a trial and a medical.

"We will see how it goes and then take it from there. You look at the situation and ask do you want to stand in his way?"

If Santalab is wanted by the Chinese club then Fury would then look to negotiate a fee as the striker is still signed up to a two-year deal with the Townsville outfit.

He won't be the first player to leave the club before kicking a ball in anger. One-time marquee star Jade North was given the chance to pursue a challenge in South Korea with Incheon United while Cassio and Felipe all exited despite agreeing deals.

Whatever the personnel for tonight's match with Wolves, the club is thrilled to be playing such high-profile opponents. "Everyone's really excited and looking forward to the occasion," said the CEO.
