In the Czech Republic, Kerem Bulut found the back of the net as Mlada Boleslav drew 1-1 with third-tier Trinec in the first leg of the Pohar Cup Round of 16. Bulut, who played the full 90 minutes, struck the equaliser on 67 minutes, heading home from close range into the bottom corner.

In Denmark, Brent McGrath scored his first goal of the season as Brondby progressed through to the Quarter-Finals of the DBU Polaken Cup with a 3-0 win over Silkeborg. McGrath, who came on in the 79th minute, struck in the 89th minute, driving the ball home from an acute angle into the far corner.

In the European Champions League, Mitch Langerak was an unused substitute as Borussia Dortmund earned a 2-2 draw away to Real Madrid.  

In the English Championship, Scott McDonald played 84 minutes as Middlesbrough’s six-match winning streak came to an end with a 0-0 draw with Nottingham Forest. McDonald, who had a couple of chances in the first half, had the best chance of the second half for Boro as his lobbed effort fell onto the roof of the net. Rhys Williams missed the clash through injury.

Shane Lowry put in a full shift at left-back as Millwall made it eight games unbeaten following a 0-0 draw with Watford.

Mile Jedinak played the full 90 minutes as Crystal Palace moved to the top of the Championship table following a 5-0 thumping of Ipswich in new manager Ian Holloway’s first game in charge. Massimo Luongo was absent from the Ipswich match-day squad.

Neil Kilkenny was a 51st minute substitute as Bristol City’s vicious dip in form continued, losing 2-0 to struggling Birmingham. Kilkenny was involved in Bristol’s best passage of play for the game which culminated in Stephen Pearson blazing over. Bristol has now gone nine games without a win and sit within the relegation zone.

Patrick Kisnorbo (Leeds United), Patrick Antelmi (Leeds United), Massimo Luongo (Ipswich Town) and Matt Fletcher (Sheffield Wednesday) all put in full shifts for their respective Under 21 sides.

In the English League One, Dean Bouzanis played a full game in goals for Oldham Athletic in their 2-1 loss to Bury FC, while James Wesolowski started and played 71 minutes. Alex Cisak was an unused substitute.

Elsewhere, Bailey Wright returned from injury and played the opening 45 minutes as Preston North End drew 1-1 with Carlisle United. Wright was replaced at the break as Preston looked to recover from a 1-0 half time deficit. Shane Cansdell-Sherriff missed the clash with a hamstring injury.

In the English League Two, Jamie Young played a full game in goals and kept a clean sheet in Aldershot’s 0-0 draw with Wycombe. Young made a brilliant first half save to deny Wycombe’s player/manager Gareth Ainsworth’s long range drive.

Elsewhere, Aaron Downes played a full match in defence as Torquay lost 1-0 at Barnet, while James Meredith played 90 minutes in Bradford City’s 0-0 draw with Chesterfield.

In Japan, Josh Kennedy was missing through injury as Nagoya Grampus beat FC Tokyo 1-0. Nagoya is only goal difference off qualification for the Asian Champions League with three matches remaining. Elsewhere, Jade North was absent as Consadole Sapporo lost 3-0 to Sanfrecce Hiroshima.
