The 27-year-old has delayed signing a new contract with the Reds and his manager has said other clubs are interested in him. Brisbane Roar are believed to be one of those keen to secure his services.

Pantelis paused before answering a question about his stalled negotiations with United.

"It's an iffy situation," said Pantelis. "I've been here for five years and every player would probably like to finish off their career at one club.

"But in saying that, it's just where it is and I'm just concentrating on the next six games with Adelaide United and then also Asia.

"I think every player wants that challenge. It's always nice to maybe sometimes go elsewhere, maybe sometimes you might need a change.

"Every player eventually probably moves, especially in our code of football, it's very rare you get one player staying at the one club, it's always chopping and changing."

Pantelis has been a regular  member of Adelaide's line-up throughout their A-League journey but 2009-10 hasn't been his most memorable season.

He's spent some time in the National Youth League side and has struggled to have the impact he's had in recent years.

"It's been an up and down season for me with a few niggly injuries," he said. "I guess most players get that.

"But the youth stint for a couple of weeks really made me realise it's all about performing week in and week out and I wasn't doing that before I got dropped."

He added: "It's all about me now performing well and knowing what's required of me.

"At this stage I'm just concentrating on finishing off the season and also worrying about the ACL and we'll let that (negotiations) take care of itself."

Pantelis and his United teammates entertain Central Coast Mariners at Hindmarsh Stadium tonight.
