Giorgos Fotakis scored the only goal of the game shortly before half-time and, despite being reduced to 10 men following the sending-off of Nikos Arabatzis for his second yellow card midway through the second half, Fernando Santos' side held on to leapfrog Olympiacos into second.

AEK Athens strengthened their grip on fourth place with a 2-1 win at Panthrakikos.
