The 20-year-old travelled with the defending champions to Germany for a training camp but missed out when the German coach trimmed his party from 24 to 23 on Wednesday.

Rehhagel has retained the bulk of the players who guided the Greeks through qualification, with 10 players remaining from the victorious Euro 2004 group.

All three of Greece's Group D games at Euro 2008 will be in Salzburg - against Sweden, Russia and Spain.
