Newcastle boss Alan Pardew said he was satisfied with his team's 0-0 draw at home against Swansea on Saturday.
Newcastle have now failed to record a victory in their last five games, seeing them drop to seventh place in the Premier League after an explosive start to the campaign.
But Pardew refused to blame his players for the goalless draw, indicating he was content with their display.
"I really can't complain too much about my side," he said. "We started ok which was the aim and put them under pressure and forced errors."
"The first half was our better half for sure, we got in behind and we created chances and put balls in the box but they haven't keep seven clean sheets for nothing."
"There's a good spirit in the Swansea team. Although they didn't keep possession as they would have liked today, they defended very well."
"Their goalie (Michel Vorm) looked very strong and everything we tried to do today they seemed to have an answer."
"Having said that a little break here and there we may have got the goal and I think we would have won this game and got Swansea to come out a little bit."
"Overall I'm actually not that disappointed, I thought we played well today."
Swansea boss Brendan Rodgers was pleased with his side's defensive display, and said he knew the Sports Direct Arena would be a difficult place to pick up a result.
"It was a fantastic performance from our team. It was always going to be a very difficult game coming here when Newcastle have had such a terrific start to the season," Rodgers said.
"When there’s 50,000 passionate Geordies it’s always going to be a difficult place to come. I thought the players showed wonderful resilience today and to get our eighth clean sheet in 16 games."
"It shows that it's a myth that we can't defend and are only a passing team. It shows how hard they are in terms of their organisation without the ball."
"Our clean sheet record is very much a team ethos. The template of our game is organisation. Without the ball everyone has a responsibility and that gets tested severely at place like here."
