Paul Jewell's men have moved away from the Barclays Premiership drop zone following a four-game unbeaten run.

However, the Addicks are in good form themselves with seven points from nine before the international break.

Another home victory for the south-east London side would draw the Latics back into the dogfight.

Pardew, however, knows it will be no easy ride against the Lancashire club, who lost eight Premiership games in a row earlier this season to slide down the league.

He said: "The one thing I like about Paul's team is they play a fast tempo and are quite forward thinking.

"They do not change much tactically to try to restrict teams, even when they come up against the best, that philosophy serves them well.

"Of all the teams in the Premiership, they start the faster than anybody and have scored seven goals in the first five minutes.

"You have got to be ready for that."

Pardew added: "Wigan have done well recently with some good wins which has given then some breathing space - but they do not need me to tell them that they are not out of it yet.

"It is as big a game for them as it is for us."

Pardew has performed a minor miracle to turn Charlton's fortunes around, having been appointed on Christmas Eve following his sacking by fellow strugglers West Ham earlier that month.

The Addicks boss has targeted four more wins to keep his side up.

However, that does not necessarily have to start tomorrow.

"I looked at these two home games against Newcastle and Wigan and I thought 'they are tough and four points would be great'," Pardew recalled.

"But we have got ourselves in a position to take six, so that is our focus now.

"We must try to get another three - but, in the grand scheme of things, I would not be disappointed with a point."

On-loan midfielder Alexander Song (hamstring) is a concern ahead of tomorrow's game.

However, Andy Reid will not play again this season following surgery on his own troublesome hamstring.
