The 30-year-old was on Leeds United’s books last season but if Glory land their man then it will end a seven year spell in England for the experienced campaigner.

Glory media manager Mark White told au.fourfourtwo.com today: “I can confirm that he (Foxe) is one that Ron (Smith) is chasing.

“Obviously the fact that he is Australian makes life considerably easier when it comes to the paperwork and if he does head back here then obviously we’d like it to be Perth.”

No guarantees at this stage but it is thought the less punishing A-League fixture schedule could be a tempting factor for a player who has suffered his fair share of injury problems over the years.

Foxe, who was part of the Australian side at the 2000 Sydney Olympics, began his career at Blacktown City before spells in Holland (Ajax) and Japan (Sanfrecce Hiroshima) respectively.

He made the switch to England during the 2000/1 campaign, linking up with West Ham United.

He then moved on to Portsmouth (managed by former West Ham boss Harry Redknapp) and was part of the side that won promotion to the Premiership in 2003.

A foot injury halted his progress and he spent most of the 2004/05 campaign on the sidelines.

When Redknapp moved on, new boss Alain Perrin chose to release Foxe.

After a spell back in Australia, Foxe returned to England and was handed a deal after spending the 2006 pre-season with the Yorkshire club. After another disastrous season for the Elland Road club, Foxe and a number of other players, were released.
