Petta, 33, signed with Parra Hills last night and is set to play for the club till their SA league campaign ends in September.

However, the Dutch-born former Fulham, Celtic and Feyenoord player has a clause allowing him to be released if an A-League club comes in for him.

Petta told au.fourfourtwo.com that he's fit and wants to show A-League coaches he can continue his career at the highest level in this country.

"You've got to be playing, that's why I've signed with Parra Hills," he said.

"I feel with the clubs I've played for and the experience I've got from that I think can perform on the pitch."

Petta will train three nights a week with the club and augment that with three of his own sessions to maintain his fitness.

"But also with the young guys in the youth teams I think my experience can help them," Petta added.

The Rotterdammer had two stints with Feyenoord as well as Dordrecht and Waalwijk before moving to Ipswich Town then Celtic between 1997 and 2004, where he played in the UEFA Cup and UEFA champions league matches.

In 2004 joined Fulham where he played nine EPL games for the Cottagers. Petta has also played two ACL matches for the Reds and 15 in the A-League since signing in 2007.

He was released at the end of last season along with a number of other players at Hindmarsh Stadium.
