Vukovic, 25, had his contract terminated unilaterally by his Turkish club Konyaspor late last week in shock move for the keeper who had joined just two months earlier on a three-year deal.

PFA say the reason for the sudden termination was linked to Konyaspor’s quota of foreign players with the club releasing Vukovic to accommodate an outfield visa player.

“What happened to Danny was not valid,” PFA boss Brendan Schwab told au.fourfourtwo.com.

PFA is currently working with the former Central Coast Mariner while also putting the wheels in motion with FIFA’s dispute resolution chamber to ensure the player is properly compensated for the remainder of his contract.

“His club [Konyaspor] unilaterally terminated Danny’s contract due to restrictions on the number of foreign players at the club,” said Schwab.

While it remains a mystery why the club would terminate a visa player’s contract without knowing beforehand their visa numbers, it’s put Vukovic in a difficult situation.

It may take anything up to a year for the  FIFA processes to deliver his compensation. In the meantime, the former Olyroo shot-stopper must find a new club and a source of income.

It’s believed Vukovic, who is still in Turkey, wants to stay in Europe and find a new contract with another club. He still has two weeks before the European transfer window closes but most clubs have their squads by now.

It is understood Konyaspor signed one-time Turkish international goalkeeper Orkun Usak from Manisaspor on Friday, before announcing Vukovic's exit.

“What’s happened highlights to other Aussie players about signing contracts with overseas clubs and to be well aware of all contracts they sign,” added Schwab.

In other news, the international transfer clearance of Perth Glory’s Josh Mitchell has come through.

His Glory teammate Michael Baird is now the final player of a trio of A-League stars who’ve had their ITC delayed by their former Romanian club.

The other player Josh Rose debuted for the Mariners on the weekend.
