Stubbins has inked a two-year deal with Insee Police United after a spell working at the AIS.

Insee are a keen developer of young talent in Thailand and have won the last two Thai Youth League campaigns.

The club is said to have been impressed by Stubbins’s ability to get the best out of younger players and game analysis after watching him work in Canberra last year.

Stubbins, who was recently in the frame for a role in the restructured Australian youth system, is a former VPL coach of the year.

The former NSL attacking midfielder joined Adelaide United in 2007 as an assistant to Aurelio Vidmar before losing his job a year ago under the disastrous regime of coach Rini Coolen.

He joins a country where football has improved in recent years with results to back up that assessment.

The Thai national team impressed against the Socceroos last September taking a shock lead before losing 2-1 in a World Cup qualifier in Brisbane.

The skilful Thais also impressed in Bangkok in the return leg with the team still in contention to qualify for the next phase.

At club level cashed up side Muang Thong United showed their ambition by signing Robbie Fowler last year.

And in 2008 Melbourne Victory were beaten by Thai side Chonburi in the ACL group stage 3-1.

Stubbins isn’t the only A-League coaching identity in Asia with former Central Coast Mariners boss Lawrie McKinna currently managing a club in China.
