The striker, who signed for Phoenix in the 2010/11 season, has played 25 games for the New Zealand-based club and scored two goals.

He was loaned out to New South Wales Premier League side Sydney United during the last off-season after playing only a limited role for Phoenix in 2011/12.

 

Last month, Phoenix said the 23-year-old would be out of professional football for the foreseeable future because of an unspecified medical condition.

In a brief statement today, the club said his contract had been terminated by mutual consent, adding: "The Wellington Phoenix management wish to thank Mirjan for his services and wish him every success in his football career."

Pavlovic started just one game during his two seasons with the club and the arrival of Belgian striker Stein Huysegems, Jeremy Brockie and youngsters Tyler Boyd and Louis Fenton meant he was always going to face an uphill battle to become a regular for coach Ricki Herbert this season.

Pavlovic's two goals were scored in the 5-2 thrashing of his former club the Newcastle Jets in December last year.
